This Privacy Policy explains how ShopLink ("we," "us," or "the App") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use our local commerce application. By using ShopLink, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account information
- Name, email address, and profile photo, either entered directly or provided by Google when you sign in with Google.
- Account type (customer or shop owner) and shop details for sellers (shop name, description, and related shop profile information).
Location and address information
- Delivery or shop addresses you add to your account, used to fulfill orders and show relevant shops.
Order and transaction information
- Products you view, add to cart, and order; order history; and status updates associated with your orders.
Communications
- Messages you send through the in-app chat between customers and shop owners, and conversation metadata (such as participants and timestamps).
Ratings and reviews
- Ratings and review text you submit for shops and orders.
Notifications
- Records of in-app notifications sent to you (such as order status changes and new messages), so we can display and manage your notification history.
Device and usage information
- Basic technical information such as app version and general usage of app features, used for troubleshooting and improving the App.
We do not knowingly collect payment card information within the App, as payment is arranged directly between you and the shop for each order.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information above to:
- Create and manage your account and authenticate you (including via Google Sign-In);
- Operate core features: browsing shops and products, placing and tracking orders, in-app chat, ratings, and notifications;
- Show shop owners the orders, messages, and reviews relevant to their shop, and show customers relevant shops and order history;
- Maintain the security and integrity of the App, including preventing fraud and abuse;
- Communicate with you about your account or orders;
- Improve and troubleshoot the App.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. How Information Is Shared
- Between customers and shop owners: when you place an order, message a shop, or leave a review, relevant information (such as your name, order details, delivery address, and messages) is shared with the shop owner involved in that transaction, and vice versa.
- Service providers: we use Supabase to host our database, authentication, and backend services, and Google to support Google Sign-In. These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments.
- Legal reasons: we may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of ShopLink, our users, or the public.
We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your account and app data is stored using Supabase's hosted database and authentication services. We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures, including database access rules, to protect your information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account information, order history, messages, and reviews for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App's features, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for legal, security, or legitimate business purposes (for example, order records already shared with a shop).
6. Your Choices and Rights
- Access and update: you can view and update most of your profile and address information from within the App.
- Delete your account: you may request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us at the address below.
- Notifications: you may be able to manage certain notification preferences within the App's settings.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, including the right to request a copy of your data or object to certain processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.
7. Children's Privacy
ShopLink is not directed to children under 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
8. International Users
Your information may be processed and stored on servers located outside your country of residence, including through our hosting provider. By using the App, you consent to this transfer and processing.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice within the App or by other reasonable means. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
